The Paris 2024 ends concluded in grand fashion on 11th August, with a spectacular Closing Ceremony at the Stade de France. The ceremony, directed by Thomas Jolly, was a visually stunning event featuring over a hundred performers, including acrobats, dancers, and musicians. It marked the end of 17 days of intense competition, where athletes from around the world showcased their talent and determination.
The ceremony wasn’t just a celebration of the athletes but also a symbolic handover to Los Angeles, the host city for the 2028 Olympics. The event featured performances from global stars like Tom Cruise, Billie Eilish, and Snoop Dogg, making it a night to remember. A touching moment was when the Olympic flame was extinguished, signifying the end of the Games, as the world looks forward to the next chapter in LA.
For Team GB, the final medal count stood at a commendable tally, though slightly lower in golds compared to Tokyo 2020. The British athletes secured several last-minute victories, bringing their total to 10 gold, 15 silver, and 18 bronze medals. This performance placed the UK in the top 10 of the overall medal table, reaffirming its status as a sporting powerhouse.
