Phoenix Arts Club Launches Crowdfunder to Keep the Curtain Up
For over 30 years, the Phoenix Arts Club has been the go-to spot for London’s indie theatre scene. Whether it’s cabaret, comedy, or drag acts, this place has been bringing people together and putting on nearly 1,000 performances a year. With over 100,000 guests walking through its doors annually, its been a creative lifeline for emerging artists and theatre lovers alike. But there’s trouble brewing. Sky-high running costs and zero external funding have put the club in a tough spot. To keep the show going, they’ve launched a crowdfunder to raise £125,000 – the bare minimum they need to stay open for the year. In order to save the Phoenix Arts Club, every penny will go back into supporting the community, as the club operates as a not-for-profit Community Interest Company.
The Phoenix Arts Club made it through the pandemic with an Arts Council England grant that helped upgrade its AV systems and fund theatre training. But let’s face it, London’s bills don’t mess around. Without help, the club’s ability to support local performers, theatre professionals, and its beloved audiences is at risk.

The money raised will keep the stage lights on and help the club invest in much-needed improvements like updated staging, theatre headphones, and even a baby grand piano. Over the years, it’s been home to performances by stars like Laura Mvula and the Scissor Sisters, and it’s also launched countless productions that have made their way to bigger London stages.
If you want to help keep save the Phoenix Arts Club, you can donate to their crowdfunder and be part of the movement to support local talent and creativity. Every little bit counts in keeping the Phoenix flying.
