Nissan Formula E team completes pre-season testing in Madrid
The Nissan Formula E team has finished its pre-season tests at the Circuito del Jarama in Madrid. The squad is now set to prepare for the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Oliver Rowland and Norman Nato both got behind the wheel of the latest GEN3 Evo cars, which we will see in the next two seasons of the race. Alpine academy driver Abbi Pulling meanwhile took part in the all-women test session.
Rowland and Nato took to the track, “with a focus on understanding the new aspects of the Nissan e-4ORCE 05” including its upgraded tyres and four-wheel drive system.
The test session also gave them a chance to trial the new Pit Boost feature that is set to be introduced for Season 11. It will provide a 10% energy increase to the race cars thanks to a quick 30-second 600kW charge in the pitlane. This enables them to activate “Attack Mode” afterwards.
The last session of the test resulted in both Nissan drivers finishing in the top-10 with Rowland in sixth and Nato in 10th. Overall, throughout the official testing, the former achieved seventh while the latter managed to finish in 12th on the timesheets. The pair gained plenty of useful data during the run, finishing a combined 389 laps between them.
The much-anticipated all-women’s test session was also completed as Alpine Academy member Abbi Pulling took to the track. The F1 Academy championship leader was on the pace right away as she set positive lap times throughout, finishing on top of the timesheets at the end of the three-hour session.
Season 11 begins in São Paulo on December 7, 2024, with the campaign also set to feature a double-header in the teams’ home race in Japan, when the Tokyo E-Prix takes place over the weekend of May 17-18, 2025.
