Kynren celebrates decade of spectacular storytelling
Kynren, the UK’s largest outdoor live-action show, is set to celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2025, with tickets now available for the milestone season. Held in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, this unforgettable production takes audiences on a thrilling journey through 2,000 years of England’s history, myths, and legends.
Since its debut in 2016, Kynren has become a must-see event for families and history enthusiasts, attracting record audiences from across the UK and beyond. Performed on a vast seven-and-a-half-acre stage, the show features a 1,000-strong cast and crew, pyrotechnics, dramatic stunts, and a life-size steam engine. The 90-minute performance combines cinematic scale with heart-pounding action, including battles, historical moments, and awe-inspiring horsemanship.
2025 promises to be a particularly significant year for the award-winning production, as it marks a decade of captivating performances. “Our 10th season is a remarkable milestone, reflecting the dedication of our community of volunteers,” said Anna Warnecke, CEO of Kynren. “The energy and enthusiasm of our audiences inspire us to make each show bigger and better. We’re excited to continue celebrating England’s rich history and heritage in such a spectacular way.”
Next year will also feature a special tribute to the 200th anniversary of the Stockton and Darlington Railway, with a replica of the iconic *Locomotion No.1* steam engine taking centre stage in the show. Additionally, the popular Viking Village will return, offering guests an immersive pre-show experience where they can explore an authentic Viking settlement.
The 2025 season will run on Saturday evenings from 19th July to 13th September. Tickets are available starting at £30 for adults, with discounts for under-18s (£20) and free entry for children aged 3 and under when seated on an adult’s lap. Kynren’s stunning finale, featuring fireworks under the stars, ensures that every performance ends on a high note.
