Jude Bellingham is making headlines as he returns to the England squad for the first time since the European Championship. The Real Madrid midfielder missed the September internationals due to injury but has now been included in interim coach Lee Carsley’s 25-man squad for the upcoming Nations League matches against Greece and Finland. This marks a significant boost for the team, particularly as they prepare to face their rivals at Wembley on 10th October and in Helsinki on 13th October.
Joining Bellingham is Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, who had to withdraw from the previous games against Ireland and Finland because of injury. Carsley, who has stepped up from his role coaching the England Under-21s, is currently at the helm while the Football Association searches for a permanent successor to Gareth Southgate, who left his position following the Euros. Carsley made a promising start, winning his first two matches, and his performance could pave the way for him to secure the role permanently if he continues to impress.
The squad also features Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke, who has only one cap for the national team, dating back to 2017. Manchester City’s Kyle Walker is another notable recall after missing the September fixtures, adding experience and depth to the defensive line.
The squad list is as follows:
- Goalkeepers: Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace), Jordan Pickford (Everton), Nick Pope (Newcastle United)
- Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Levi Colwill (Chelsea), Marc Guéhi (Crystal Palace), Ezri Konsa (Aston Villa), Rico Lewis (Manchester City), John Stones (Manchester City), Kyle Walker (Manchester City)
- Midfielders: Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Phil Foden (Manchester City), Conor Gallagher (Atletico Madrid), Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest), Angel Gomes (Lille), Kobbie Mainoo (Manchester United), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Declan Rice (Arsenal)
- Forwards: Anthony Gordon (Newcastle United), Jack Grealish (Manchester City), Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Noni Madueke (Chelsea), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Dominic Solanke (Tottenham Hotspur), Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)
With Bellingham’s return, England fans will be eagerly anticipating the matches against Greece and Finland, hoping for strong performances as they compete in the Nations League.
