Cartier to be on display at V&A

Opening in April 2025, the Victoria & Albert will host the nation’s first major exhibition in nearly three decades dedicated to Cartier jewels and watches. It will explore how the Maison became “an unparalleled force in the jewellery and watch world.
A limited number of tickets are available to buy today for the exhibition which will open on 12th April, 2025, and continue until 16th November.
With over 350 objects on display, it will chart the evolution of Cartier and its “legacy of art, design, and craftsmanship” since the turn of the 20th century.
That was when three grandsons of founder Louis-François set out to create the first globally recognised jewellery house and would establish branches in Paris, London, and New York. With clients that included royalty and aristocracy, Cartier soon became known as the “jeweller of kings and the king of jewellers” before broadening its appeal through the worlds of cinema, music, and fashion.
The exhibition will include jewels and “showstopping” objects, historical gemstones, iconic watches and clocks from the gallery’s Cartier Collection, and even previously unseen drawings from the V&A and Cartier archives. This will include works lent by the King from the Royal Collection, major museums in the UK and around the world, and private collections.
