ActiveWestminster Awards nominations open

If you know of an inspirational individual, club, or team that has been instrumental in keeping communities active this year, help them get the recognition they deserve by nominating them for the 2025 ActiveWestminster Awards. This year’s awards are an opportunity to showcase the hard work of inspirational residents, people, or groups throughout the borough.

There are nine categories for this year’s ActiveWestminster Awards including the the PE and School Sport Award, the Rewarding and Celebrating Diversity Award, and the coveted Sports Personality of The Year Award. The shortlisted few will be invited to the annual awards ceremony at Porchester Hall on Friday 14th November, for an evening hosted by BBC presenter Qasa Alom.

The full list of categories for this year’s awards are as follows:

  • Active Inclusive Award
  • Rewarding and Celebrating Diversity Award
  • Change4life Supporting Children and Young People Award
  • One You Westminster Supporting Adults Award
  • Active Place or Space Award
  • PE and School Sport Award
  • Club or Coach of the Year Award
  • Sports Personality of The Year Award, for anyone aged 12 and over
  • The Lord Mayor of Westminster – Unsung Hero Award, in memory of Mariam Sabir

You have until Sunday 28th September to nominate someone for the ActiveWestminster Awards. Click here for more information and to make a nomination.

Westminster City Council will also be hosting its annual Dance Westminster, an inclusive pan-disability dance competition that hopes to “encourage disabled people to be more active through dance.”

“This event will not only enable people to dance, but it will also provide opportunities for people to find out more about the different inclusive activities and sport in the community,” the council said.

The first heat will be on Friday 5th September with the final following on Tuesday 21st October. Find out more on the competition and how to sign up to the heats.
