Six Reasons to Lace Up for the 2025 Royal Parks Half Marathon
There’s something special about running in London. It’s not just the buzz of the city or the mix of modern life with history on every corner—it’s how the city feels when you’re on your feet, moving through its parks and streets. The 2025 Royal Parks Half Marathon captures that feeling perfectly. With the ballot now open, this race isn’t just about hitting a personal best; it’s a chance to see London in a whole new way.
Taking place on Sunday, 12th October, the 13.1-mile route is one of the most scenic runs in the capital. Starting and finishing along Hyde Park’s South Carriage Drive, the course takes you through four of London’s eight Royal Parks—including St James’s Park and Green Park—while passing landmarks like Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, and the Royal Albert Hall. It’s the kind of route that makes even seasoned Londoners see the city differently. Plus, the mostly flat course means it’s accessible to everyone, from first-time runners to seasoned pros looking for a smooth, fast run.

But this event is about more than just the scenery. The Royal Parks Half is also one of London’s biggest charity runs. Since its first event in 2008, runners have raised over £70 million for more than 1,200 charities, including organisations like Great Ormond Street Hospital and Mind. The race also helps fund the conservation of London’s Royal Parks, making sure these green spaces are protected for everyone to enjoy. So, whether you’re running for a cause close to your heart or simply want to give back while doing something you love, there’s a bigger purpose behind every step.

If you’re thinking about joining in, now’s the time. The ballot is open until 5pm GMT on 7th February, and you can enter here. The draw will take place on 13th February, and successful entrants will be notified by email. Entry costs £68.95 (including a £4.95 admin fee). If you don’t get a spot through the ballot, there’s still the option to run with a charity place, which opens in February.
The Royal Parks Half Marathon is more than just a race—it’s a unique way to experience London, connect with other runners, and support causes that matter. Whether you’re chasing a new goal, raising money for charity, or just want to see the city from a different perspective, this race is worth adding to your calendar.
