Wormholt trial aims to make area safer and quieter

Hammersmith & Fulham will begin a trial make the Wormholt area “safer and queiter.” The council says that residents have asked it to “help reduce noise, congestion, and pollution problems” in the area’s residential streets.

The new neighbourhood improvement trial in the Wormholt area will be enforced with PCN fines, in a bid to “cut congestion and pollution.” Motorists from out of the borough, the council says, have received warning notices about the scheme since 5th November 2025.

Over 80% of vehicles using the area’s residential roads are “just commuters cutting through” between the A40 and Uxbridge Road. The trial, which may last up to 18 months, aims to deter them while allowing residents to continue to use the streets freely. This comes following “extensive consultation” with local residents and businesses and “long-standing complaints about noise, congestion and pollution.”

The aim is to “significantly reduce” traffic in the area as well as increasing safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users. Vehicle access will remain for residents, their visitors, and businesses.

Anyone who has a Hammersmith & Fulham parking permit can automatically pas swithout any fines. Anyone with off-street parking but no permit can apply for a free Borough Access Permit on this website. Residents living in the area can grant access for their visitors through the cameras. We will continue to fully consult Wormholt residents and businesses during the trial period.
