Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has once again demonstrated its dedication to nurturing future talent by hosting a series of STEAM workshops at Davison CE High School for Girls. These sessions aimed to inspire young women to explore careers in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM), highlighting the practical applications of mathematics in luxury manufacturing.
Developed in partnership with Mathematics Education Innovation (MEI), a charity committed to enhancing maths education, the workshops were meticulously aligned with the school curriculum and tailored to reflect the intricacies of luxury car production. Leading the sessions was Fleur Macmillan, a former Davison student and current apprentice at Rolls-Royce, who shared her journey and insights with the students. She was accompanied by Jess Burcombe, an intern and undergraduate from the University of Chichester, who provided a firsthand perspective on pursuing a career in STEAM fields.
These workshops are part of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ broader Future Talent Programme, which encompasses graduate, apprentice, and internship opportunities aimed at enhancing diversity and inclusion within the company. This initiative also underscores the company’s commitment to local engagement, solidifying its reputation as a leading employer in the community. Mark Adams, Director of Human Resources at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, highlighted the initiative’s impact: “By showing how important maths is within luxury manufacturing, we hope to inspire students to consider a future in the industry. In recent years, we have seen a welcome increase in female applicants for our Future Talent Programme, and activities like this are key to sustaining that progress.”
For those interested in joining the 2025 Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Apprenticeship Programme, applications are open until 31st March 2025. The programme welcomes young individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences, offering apprenticeships commencing in August 2025 across various specialisms.
