Pilot training programme opens doors for Kensington & Chelsea locals with dreams of flying

Aspiring pilots in Kensington & Chelsea now have a unique opportunity to take to the skies — without the burden of costly training fees. Jet2.com has launched Jet2FlightPath, its first-ever fully funded pilot training programme, offering up to 60 successful applicants the chance to qualify as commercial airline pilots at no personal expense.

For local residents who’ve long dreamt of a career in aviation but been held back by the typical £100,000+ cost of flight training, this could be a life-changing moment. With no need to self-fund, the programme is designed to open doors to people from a wide range of backgrounds, including those who may not have previously considered becoming a pilot a realistic option.

Applicants need five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including maths and a science subject, or equivalent qualifications, making it one of the more accessible routes into commercial aviation currently available in the UK.

The Jet2FlightPath scheme includes a fully paid 18-month Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) training course, delivered in the UK, Spain or the US. Once qualified, trainees will move on to type-rating training on either Airbus or Boeing aircraft before joining the Jet2.com fleet, which is set to reach 135 aircraft by summer 2025. The airline currently flies from 13 UK airports to a wide range of European and Mediterranean destinations.

As part of their training, cadets will also gain insight into life across the business, shadowing cabin crew and ground staff to get a real sense of how the airline operates and what makes it successful. This immersive approach is designed to build not just skill, but confidence and culture – something Jet2.com prides itself on as a Which? Recommended Provider for a decade running.

The airline is partnering with Skyborne Airline Academy, Leading Edge and FTE Jerez to deliver the programme and aims to train more pilots in the coming years as its operations expand.

If you’re based in Kensington & Chelsea and looking for a long-term career that takes you places, Jet2FlightPath could be the right runway. Whether you’re leaving school, changing careers, or revisiting an old ambition, now’s the time to apply.

Applications are open now. Visit the Jet2FlightPath information page to find out more and submit yours.
