Parking fine scams: RBKC council issues advice to avoid getting swindled
Kensington & Chelsea Council says it is aware of parking fine scams involving texts about tickets and fines that often link to a fake website, which will try and steal your details. It advises people to be aware so that they can avoid falling for these parking fine scams.
The parking fine scams send you messages that tell you that you have an outstanding penalty charge notice, adding that urgent payment is required to avoid further action. The council says it never uses text messages to tell you about a parking fine. If a penalty charge notice has been issued, you will receive letters or secure emails.
It advises that if you receive a suspicious text message, do not click on any links in the text, as they are likely to be false, do not make a payment or provide your bank details, and delete the text message.
If you have any questions or concerns about parking tickets issued in Kensington and Chelsea, email enquiries@rbkcparking.com. To report a scam, forward the text to 7726 (SPAM) and report it online to Action Fraud.
