Paris 2024 Comes to the Big Screen
Hammersmith BID, a not-for-profit providing services and events in the town centre, has announced that this year’s Summer Festival, which will feature a chance to watch the Paris 2024 Olympics on the big screen in London for free this July and August.
The annual Summer Festival festivities commence with two days of Rugby 7s action leading up to the Olympic Opening Ceremony on Friday, 26th July. The live broadcast of the ceremony, set to begin at 5.45 PM, promises a stunning start to the international event. Throughout the following two weeks, a variety of Olympic events will be shown daily, with beach-style deckchairs available from Monday to Wednesday and on weekends for viewing comfort.
To engage viewers in a manner resembling ‘passing the remote’, stewards will conduct votes in Lyric Square, allowing viewers to decide which events will be shown.
Family Fun and Community Activities
In addition to the Olympics, Hammersmith BID will host the Chelsea FC Foundation for a free Family Olympics day on Tuesday, 6th August. This event, part of the ongoing Summer Festival, offers families the opportunity to participate in Olympic-inspired sports and healthy living activities. Ongoing Summer Festival Highlights
The Big Screen in Lyric Square has already proven to be a popular fixture of the Summer Festival, recently drawing crowds for the Wimbledon finals and a film night featuring “Barbie.” This community hub continues to offer an array of free events:
- Football 360 with Fulham FC Foundation: On 22nd and 23rd July, from 11 AM to 3 PM, Lyric Square will host inclusive football activities in collaboration with Livat Hammersmith and Fulham FC Foundation.
- Feel Good Tuesdays: Every Tuesday lunchtime in July, free wellness events such as yoga, breathwork, and meditation classes are available.
- Film Night – Toy Story: On Thursday, 25th July, at 6 PM, enjoy the Pixar classic “Toy Story” at the free outdoor cinema, marking the start of the school holidays.
The Summer Festival will bring a mix of sports, wellness, and entertainment for all ages, and for the Paris 2024 Olympics on the big screen in London, the community is encouraged to pull up a bright green deckchair and join in the festivities.
