Mayor of London reaction to King’s Speech
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has expressed his strong support for the recent King’s Speech, highlighting its positive implications for London and the entire country. The Mayor praised the new government’s ambitious agenda, describing it as a significant shift in policy after years of what he characterised as stagnation for the capital.

One of the key components of the speech that Khan welcomed was the introduction of the English Devolution Bill. He believes this legislation will be instrumental in unlocking the potential of cities like London. “It’s refreshing to have a government that recognises the vital role that regional mayors can play in boosting economic growth, building more homes, and improving local communities,” Khan stated.
The Mayor also lauded the government’s commitment to tackling violent crime, particularly through measures to ban dangerous knives. Additionally, he welcomed new laws aimed at providing greater security for private renters, including the abolition of no-fault evictions.
