King’s Honours Shine on City of London’s Champions

Several prominent figures connected to the City of London have been recognised in His Majesty The King’s Birthday Honours List, acknowledging their dedication to public service, conservation, policing, and business leadership.
Alderman Prem Goyal awarded CBE for public service
Alderman Prem Goyal of the City of London Corporation has been awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his longstanding public service.

Serving as an Alderman since 2017, Goyal is also a Non-Executive Director at the Federation of Small Businesses, where he chairs the Audit and Risk Committee. He was the founding Chair of the City of London Chamber of Commerce and is currently Chair of Greengage and a Non-Executive Director at Dolma Impact Fund II.
His distinguished financial career spans two decades at global investment banks including Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank, with postings in New York, Tokyo, Zurich, and London.
“Public service is a true privilege,” said Goyal. “I am proud to play a role in promoting enterprise, inclusion and good governance across the City and beyond. I remain committed to ensuring that the Square Mile remains a Destination City to live, work, and visit.”
Former City Police Commissioner Ian Dyson also awarded CBE
Ian Dyson, former Commissioner of the City of London Police, has also been awarded a CBE for voluntary and charitable services and to policing.

Since retiring, Dyson has devoted his time to multiple causes including chairing the Consortium for the Prevention of Suicide, the Financial Crime Information Network, and supporting organisations such as the Royal Humane Society and the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry.
A champion of security and community service, he also serves as:
- Chairman of the Register of Chartered Security Professionals
- Trustee of the Safer Business Network
- Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London
- Ambassador for the City Crime Prevention Association’s VAWG initiative
With a 38-year career in policing, Dyson was instrumental in the national rollout of the 101 non-emergency number, and helped set up the City of London Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit.
“I’m extremely proud to have had a positive impact both in the City and nationally. This award reflects the work of so many incredible, devoted people I’ve had the privilege to work with.”
Dr Helen Read recognised with MBE for services to conservation
Dr Helen Read, Conservation Officer at the City of London Corporation, has been awarded an MBE for her services to conservation and arboriculture.

Based at Burnham Beeches and Stoke Common, two nationally important green spaces, Dr Read has pioneered conservation practice for over three decades. A founding member of the Ancient Tree Forum, she has contributed to international projects including VETCert, which standardised veteran tree management across eight countries.
She is also recognised globally for her expertise in millipedes and invertebrates, and regularly lectures in the UK and abroad.
“Working at Burnham Beeches has been a privilege,” said Read. “The City Corporation’s support has enabled me to take part in wide-reaching conservation initiatives.”
Danny Lopez MBE recognised for trade and City advocacy
Danny Lopez, CEO of cybersecurity firm Glasswall, has been awarded an MBE for services to trade promotion and to the City of London.

In a pro bono capacity, Lopez played a vital role in developing the City of London Corporation’s work on economic growth through its Competitiveness Advisory Board. He also helped shape programmes to promote the Square Mile as a top-tier destination for investment, business, and tourism.
“The City of London is where I started my career and built lifelong friendships,” Lopez said. “I’m proud to have played a part in promoting this remarkable Square Mile on the international stage.”
