King Street Library to close for three weeks for maintenance

Hammersmith Library in King Street will be closing for three weeks from today (Monday, 25th November) for essential maintenance works to take place. The council says that it still has “a full range of services available to residents who may be affected by the closure.”

The work is set to finish on Monday, 16th December. Any residents who have borrowed a book can still drop it off at the collection bin outside the library or in any of the other libraries in the borough.

Any books due during the closure period have been automatically extended through until December.

Hammersmith & Fulham’s other libraries all also remain open and the online library is open 24/7 for all your e-book, e-audio e-magazine and e-newspaper needs. These are based at:

Shepherds Bush Library, 6 Wood Lane, W12 7BF

Fulham Library, 598 Fulham Road, SW6 5NX

Askew Road Library, 87-91 Askew Road, W12 9AN.

For anyone who needs to contact the Hammersmith-based staff, a limited service library access point has been opened by the council on the ground floor at 145 King Street. This library access point will be open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, with a small range of titles to choose from. From here, you will be able to: pick-up any reservations made before 25th November, return any books you may have already borrowed, browse a small selection of books on site, and speak to our staff.

“We hope to have the library back up and running as normal by 16th December and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause,” the council said in a press release.

To contact the council, you can email: libraries@lbhf.gov.uk. Be sure to include your library card number and the name of your home library in all email correspondence. The council also runs a 24-hour telephone service: 0333 370 4700 – please have your library membership number and PIN to hand if you wish to renew or reserve items or check your account.
