Grenfell Projects Fund: £600k available for community-led projects

The Grenfell Projects Fund has launched its 2024/2025 round, offering grants totalling £600,000 to support community-led recovery in North Kensington. This funding aims to back projects that address local needs and priorities, continuing the momentum of recovery since the tragic events of 2017.

Since its inception in 2019, the fund has supported over 100 projects across environmental, cultural, and community-led employment initiatives. For this year’s funding, the process has been co-designed with the input of a panel of seven local residents, representing different wards in North Kensington. This collaborative approach has ensured that the projects chosen reflect the real needs and aspirations of the community.

The Resident Panel, which worked closely with council officers, played a vital role in shaping the fund’s themes, priorities, and the application process. They were responsible for designing the application and scoring system, assessing proposals, and reviewing the communication materials sent out to the local area. This unique partnership between residents and council staff ensured that local knowledge and lived experience were integral to every stage of the process.

In a departure from traditional grant-making, this co-design approach allowed officers to receive live feedback and ideas directly from residents, creating a more responsive and community-focused programme. Residents also had the chance to vote on 26 shortlisted projects, with the voting process closing on 16 February. Successful projects will be announced in April.

The 2024/2025 Grenfell Projects Fund highlights the importance of involving local people in decisions that affect their community. By working in partnership with residents, the council ensures that the funding is directed toward projects that truly benefit North Kensington.

Look out for promotional materials featuring the “Your Community, Your Voice” badge, indicating opportunities for residents to get involved and have their say in shaping local services.
