Garden Waste Disposal Made Easy with New H&F Collection Service
Council seeks to be the ‘greenest borough’ in its latest move on garden waste disposal
Hammersmith & Fulham Council has introduced a new garden waste collection service, offering residents a convenient and environmentally friendly way to manage their green waste. Priced at £90 annually, this service equates to less than £1.84 per week, providing a hassle-free solution for garden waste disposal and recycling.
Councillor Sharon Holder, H&F Cabinet Member for Public Realm, stated, “We want to help our local gardeners – whether your green space is large or small. By boosting the amount of garden waste we recycle, it helps keep H&F the greenest borough in Britain.”
The service aims to reduce the inconvenience for garden owners, contribute to the fight against climate change, and increase recycling rates. Weekly collections will ensure that garden waste is transported to a compost facility, where it will be converted into high-quality fertiliser to support local agriculture.
Service Details:
- Subscribers will receive two reusable and foldable 90-litre brown garden waste bags.
- Acceptable materials include grass cuttings, leaves, twigs, sticks, garden prunings, cut flowers, and fallen fruit.
- Garden waste should not be placed in regular rubbish bins or recycling containers.
Billing will occur annually from the date of the first collection. Starting in September, residents must use the new garden bag subscription service for garden waste collection.
