Flight school opportunity for Hammersmith & Fulham applicants removes cost barrier

A flight school opportunity for Hammersmith & Fulham applicants could be the break many have been waiting for, as Jet2.com opens its first fully funded commercial pilot training programme.

Jet2FlightPath, the new initiative from one of the UK’s largest airlines, offers 60 successful candidates a route into aviation, with all training costs covered. That’s welcome news for anyone locally who has considered becoming a pilot but been put off by the usual £100,000-plus price tag.

The flight school opportunity is open to applicants from a wide range of backgrounds, with no previous flying experience required. To apply, you’ll need five GCSEs at grade 4 or above (including maths and a science), and a readiness to take part in a selection process including assessments and interviews.

If selected, you’ll undertake an 18-month Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) course through one of Jet2’s partner academies in the UK, Spain or the United States. Once training is complete, cadets move on to type-rating for an Airbus or Boeing aircraft and are then offered a position flying for Jet2.com.

Trainees will also get the chance to see the business from the ground up – literally. You’ll spend time with cabin crew, ground staff and other customer-facing teams to understand the full operation. Jet2 says this hands-on model helps new pilots learn how to fly and lead within a customer-first culture.

With a fleet of up to 135 aircraft planned for summer 2025 and a strong presence across UK airports, Jet2 is preparing for long-term growth – and wants future pilots who reflect the communities it serves, including Hammersmith & Fulham.

If you live locally and have been thinking about a bold career move, now could be the time to act.

Applications are open now. Visit the Jet2FlightPath page for full details.
