Forbes initially aspired to become a professional footballer, joining Crystal Palace Academy. However, after his football dreams didn’t materialise, he found himself at a crossroads. Reflecting on this, Forbes shared: “Thanks to that disappointment and rejection, it put me on this path which is beyond my wildest dreams.”
After a stint working in a call centre at Motorola, he moved into the software industry. It was at Primavera, a software firm he helped expand, that Forbes made his first millions when the company was sold to Oracle. His journey from financial hardship to business leadership is an inspiring story for many.
After Overcoming Homelessness and Debt
Beyond the challenges of homelessness, Forbes was also burdened with £88,000 of debt in his early adulthood. Determined to rebuild, he thrived in the software industry, rising to CEO roles in several companies. Today, as CEO of Forterro, Forbes leads a company that generates over €300 million annually. Despite his success, he remains grounded, saying: “I never wanted to lose the value of a pound.”

Forbes is committed to using his platform to give back to disadvantaged communities. Through the Forbes Family Group, a philanthropic organisation he founded with his wife Danielle, he seeks to break the cycle of poverty and provide opportunities to young people. “There is so much talent in these communities—you just need to open the door a crack,” Forbes said, highlighting his passion for mentorship and social impact.
