Cultural Leadership Board announced by Mayor

The Mayor of London has unveiled the new members of the Mayoral Cultural Leadership Board 2025-28, reaffirming his commitment to celebrating and protecting the capital’s thriving creative industries. With culture contributing a remarkable £51.7 billion to the UK economy each year and supporting one in five jobs in the city, Sadiq Khan’s move highlights the sector’s vital role in London’s ongoing recovery and growth.
Leading the refreshed board are Amanda Parker, a seasoned cultural consultant, and Tom Sleigh, former chair of the Barbican. They’ll be joined by 18 other influential figures from fields as diverse as music, gaming, education, and health. Among the new faces, London Councils will be represented by Councillor Anthony Okereke, leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich. You can find out more about how local councils are engaging with culture on London Councils’ website.
Every four years, the board is renewed to ensure fresh perspectives help shape the Mayor’s culture strategy and deliver his cultural priorities. Initiatives like the London Growth Plan and Creative Enterprise Zones, aiming to create 71,000 square metres of affordable creative workspace by 2026 and underline the Mayor’s commitment to making culture accessible for all Londoners. Meanwhile, the popular London Borough of Culture programme has already reached over three million residents, offering more than 26,000 opportunities for young Londoners.
As the capital continues to evolve, the newly appointed Cultural Leadership Board will play a key role in safeguarding and expanding opportunities across the creative sector.
