XING Mobility and Caterham partner for EV sports car batteries

XING Mobility, a key play in immersion-cooled battery technology, has announced a partnership with British sports car maker Caterham. The firm will supply Caterham with the “revolutionary” battery for its upcoming Project V, its first all-electric sports car.

Caterham has been renowned for its lightweight sports cars and engaging driving dynamics, so an electric car is a bold step. XING says its battery pack is “designed to enhance performance by integrating cells directly into the battery pack, improving energy density and reducing weight.” The pack was built for the Project V’s unique design and promises “exceptional safety and stability during high-speed drives and rapid charging.”

Project V was developed through an international partnership between Caterham, XING Mobility, TOKYO R&D, and Yamaha, blending the best of these firms to bring a “groundbreaking electric sports car. It is a departure from the traditional lightweight petrol-powered sports cars that Caterham is known for.

The exterior of the new car is more Porsche than Lotus, with a very modern look to it. This is in stark contrast to Caterham’s other models which are based on the Lotus 7.
