Camera catches drivers doing tricks on Pall Mall

Drivers have been caught on camera performing tricks and revving their engines in cars worth over £100,000 on Pall Mall. The drivers responsible have been issued with penalty notices after being caught on camera performing the dangerous and illegal stunts.

A late-night unregistered car meet was discovered less then a mile from Buckingham Palace when acoustic noise cameras used by Westminster City Council were triggered by the revving engines of the cars.

The vehicles included a heavily modified BMW Coupe and a Mercedes C63 AMG. Both were captured on CCTV “performing doughnuts in dangerous proximity to onlooking crowds and other road users.”

Other vehicles were blocking the road and made noise that hit the same levels as a jack hammer working. The special cameras were installed in 2021. As soon as they detect sound beyond 90 decibels, they are activated. What’s more, they are clever enough to differentiate between the sound of an engine and typical car horns as they monitor sound patterns.

“We have a zero-tolerance for antisocial driving, so I welcome the latest round of fines and hope by working with our partners we can identify others,” Aicha Less, from Westminster City Council. “If you are looking to meet up with cars like this, our streets are not the place for it.”
