The latest AC Cobra GT Roadster and GT Coupe have been revealed with updated engine and gearboxes. Joining the classic V8 powered models, including a supercharged version, will be a new high performance 2.0-litre engine which will go on sale in 2026. The new version will utilise the same aluminium chassis wrapped up in a carbon fibre body and with a unique interior.
The latest AC Cobra, AC says, “will bear all the hallmarks of Britain’s oldest active vehicle manufacture.”
Keeping it faithful to the AC Cobra heritage, the engines will be performance oriented. AC says it will “develop the engine to suit the characteristics and potential that its GT platform delivers.”
It will run in different states of tune, depending on the model. Being lighter than the V8 powered AC Cobra, the 2.0-litre will benefit from more weight savings, using more carbon fibre for parts of the chassis.
AC says it will announce the full spec in the spring of 2025 but promises a power output up to 390bhp.
Along with the new engine, AC has also announced a new dual-clutch gearbox option which it says will “perfectly compliment the performance of the engines.” The other option will be a six-speed manual.
Pricing and spec for the new AC Cobra will be revealed later but the company says it is expected to start at £235,000.
