Backseat Bites to be launched as UK’s first restaurant in a car

The first restaurant in a car will open its doors as Hyundai announces Backseat Bites. The “one-of-a-kind” experiences comes as the South Korean car maker says 93% of Brits are “hungry for new experiences. Tapping into this, Hyundai is launching Backseat Bites with a unique dining experience in the backseat of its new INSTER electric car.

Inspired by a South Korean “cultural phenomenon,” Honbap or to dine alone, the “drive and dine” concept behind Backseat Bites launches amid an “increase in appetite for personal escapes.” 45% of Brits say they have gone solo to the cinema, 55% have taken a holiday alone, 66% have gone out for food alone, and 60% say they plan a solo experience in the next six months.

Backseat Bites is more than just a restaurant. Designed for the nation’s adventurers, whether solo or with friends, it offers guests an entirely unique taste of Korea from an unexpected location, the backseat of a car,” Ashley Andrew, President of Hyundai and Genesis UK, said.

“From the bespoke artwork to the traditional cuisine,” he added, “Backseat Bites is a celebration of Korean culture and a tribute to the joy of doing things your own way.”
