Anti-Bullying Week 2025: How London Schools Are Harnessing “Power for Good”
Anti-Bullying Week 2025 begins today across London, with the theme “Power for Good” encouraging pupils to stand up for one another and help create safer, kinder school communities. The campaign, which runs nationwide, highlights how every small act of kindness can make a difference.
From Hackney to Hammersmith, schools across the capital are taking part through assemblies, creative workshops, and the now-famous Odd Socks Day. Pupils and teachers are being urged to explore what it means to use their voices to make positive change, whether that’s speaking out when they see bullying or simply offering support to someone who needs it.
A London headteacher said: “This week reminds our pupils that courage isn’t about being loud. It’s about knowing when to step forward and show empathy.”
Young voices against bullying
Bullying remains one of the most common reasons young people seek help from counselling services, with thousands of cases linked to exclusion, rumours, and online harassment. The campaign’s message, that everyone has the power to act for good, aims to shift attitudes and empower pupils to challenge unkindness when they see it.
An 11-year-old pupil taking part in the campaign shared: “When you talk about it, things change. I used to stay quiet, but now I know I can say something when someone’s being picked on.”
Supporting children beyond the classroom
Parents and carers are being reminded that small gestures of reassurance can make a big difference. Listening, encouraging confidence and reminding children they are not alone can help counter the long-term impact of bullying. If the issue happens at school or online, families are encouraged to speak to teachers, check privacy settings, and make sure children know how to block or report harmful content by using this online safety guidance.
Anti-Bullying Week 2025 focuses not just on preventing harm, but on strengthening relationships. By turning empathy into everyday action, schools across London hope to make “Power for Good” more than a slogan – a lasting way of life.
