St Patrick’s Day Festival returns on Sunday 16th March

London’s St Patrick’s Day celebrations will return to the capital on Sunday, 16th March, with a spectacular parade and a day of cultural events, honouring the contributions of the city’s Irish community.
This year’s Grand Marshals are Irish Paralympic gold medal-winning cyclist Katie-George Dunlevy and Olympic gold medal-winning boxer Kellie Harrington. Following their remarkable achievements in Paris last year, the two will lead the parade, which is expected to draw more than 50,000 participants. The procession will travel through central London, from Hyde Park Corner, passing through Piccadilly, Trafalgar Square, and Whitehall, with vibrant floats, marching bands, and lively dance troupes.
Trafalgar Square will be the focal point of the festivities, where visitors can enjoy an afternoon of free entertainment. DJ Tara Kumar, a renowned Irish-Indian-Malaysian broadcaster, will host the main stage, featuring performances from world-class acts including Kíla, Irish Women in Harmony, and Ragz-CV. There will also be a range of food stalls offering traditional Irish dishes, with celebrity chef Anna Haugh showcasing her culinary skills in live cooking demonstrations.
This year’s programme highlights include the Peace Heroines exhibition, which celebrates the often-overlooked women heroes of Ireland. Visitors will also have the chance to experience the Irish Creative Collective Sessions, showcasing the best of Irish comedy, music, and film. The Children’s Zone will feature Artburst, a series of free workshops focused on using recycled materials to promote sustainability—one of the key themes of this year’s event. Additionally, attendees can try their hand at traditional Irish dancing in the Irish Dance Zone.
The celebration also includes a special screening of *The Song Cycle*, a film documenting Nick Kelly and his band Dogs as they cycled from Dublin to Glastonbury to perform at last year’s festival. The band will cycle from Dublin to London to join the parade and perform on the main stage.
London’s St Patrick’s Day Festival promises to be a vibrant celebration of Irish culture, creativity, and the enduring connection between London and Ireland.
