Tube strikes September 2025: Key dates, affected lines and events hit across London
Londoners are facing almost a week of disruption as Tube strikes September 2025 take hold across the capital, with action from the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union affecting travel from Sunday 7th September to Thursday 11th September, and knock-on effects running into Friday 12th September.
The strikes follow nine months of failed negotiations over pay and conditions. Transport for London (TfL) has offered a 3.4% pay rise, describing it as “fair,” but says it cannot meet the RMT’s demand to reduce the working week to 35 hours. With talks stalled, services across the London Underground are being suspended.

Wider impact on London
The strikes have already forced changes to the city’s cultural calendar. Coldplay have moved the final two Wembley Stadium shows of their Music Of The Spheres tour, while Post Malone has rescheduled Tottenham Hotspur Stadium dates. Both confirmed that tickets remain valid for the new dates later this month.
Meanwhile, the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall are expected to continue as planned until Saturday 13th September, despite ongoing transport difficulties.
TfL has stressed that London’s buses, the Elizabeth line and London Overground will remain in service, though capacity will be stretched. The network has also encouraged commuters to consider cycling, with hire options from Santander Cycles, Lime and Forest available across the capital.
Looking ahead
In addition to the Tube action, a First Bus strike is due from Friday 12th to Monday 15th September, affecting parts of west, northwest and southwest London.
With London’s transport system under pressure, questions remain about how to balance workforce demands with keeping the city moving. Infrastructure investment, such as the proposed redevelopment of Liverpool Street station, is increasingly being linked to the capital’s long-term economic growth.
