Centenary of the Phantom marked by special Rolls-Royce
The Rolls-Royce Phantom is now a 100-year-old nameplate, and to mark its centenary, Rolls-Royce has unveiled a limited-edition car. The Phantom Centenary Private Collection is limited to just 25 cars, with the company saying its “designers, engineers and artisans poured their skill and imagination into what has become their magnum opus.” They “immersed themselves in Phantom’s world,” studying the history of the model from the 1920s to today, Rolls-Royce says.
On the outside, the car’s Spirit of Ecstasy mascot is cast in 18-carat gold and plated in 24-carat gold to mark the occasion, while inside, “couturier-designed” textiles and “sketch-like” embroidery laser-etched leather, and “groundbreaking woodcraft,” including 3D marquetry, gilding, and 3D ink layering, “tell Phantom’s story in stunning, intricate detail.”
To evoke the “timeless elegance of a black-and-white film star” the Phantom Centenary Private Collection is in a two-tone black and white paint, with a nod to the silhouette of the 1930s Phantoms, while its wheels are a unique design you’re unlikely to see on any other car.
Under the bonnet is the same twin-turbo 6.75-litre V12 engine that powers the regular Phantom.
Limited to just 25 cars, this bespoke special edition costs an eye-watering £2.5 million, according to Autocar.
