Lilestone Street Community Hub launched in Church Street
Westminster Council has launched Lilestone Street Community Hub for a “healthier, more connected Church Street.” The council opened up the “vibrant new space” to “help residents meet, learn, get active and access support.”
Located in the heart of Church Street, the community hub “places a strong focus on health, wellbeing and connection.” Plans are underway for a more permanent Health & Wellbeing Hub on the site, until which Lilestone Street will “serve the community” for the next three years as part of the Church Street Regeneration Programme.
Lilestone Street provides a wide and inclusive range of free and low-cost activities, including:
- A friendly pop-up community café every Tuesday, offering space to meet, chat and connect.
- Employment support, skills workshops and drop-ins from Citizens Advice and partnering services.
- Free creative sessions covering music, arts, crafts and STEM activities for all ages.
- Health and wellbeing opportunities including advice drop-ins, exercise classes and early-intervention support.
- A developing calendar of cultural events, youth activities, social groups and family sessions co-designed with the community.
This Hub was designed with over 400 local residents and in partnership with voluntary organisations and service providers across Church Street through workshops, door-knocking, street engagement and open conversations. Their input, the council says, has “directly informed the hub’s vision” adding that it aligns closely with its #2035 ambitions.
At the official launch of the Lilestone Street Community Hub programme, more than 200 visitors gathered for live entertainment, a community music jam, henna and crochet activities, wreath-making and a special ribbon-cutting ceremony.
