Ahmad Theibich Named Overseas Nurse of the Year at 2024 Nursing Times Workforce Awards
Ahmad Theibich, an orthopaedic clinical nurse specialist and postgraduate nursing student at City St George’s, University of London, has been recognised as the Overseas Nurse of the Year at the 2024 Nursing Times Workforce Awards. His journey, marked by determination and resilience, reflects the dedication and skill that define the nursing profession.
Now working at The Wellington Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare UK, Ahmad supports patients with musculoskeletal conditions and advocates for professional development within nursing. His story began as a refugee, arriving in the UK with the support of the charity Talent Beyond Boundaries. Despite the challenges he faced early in his career, Ahmad has become a respected figure in healthcare, demonstrating how perseverance and opportunity can make a lasting impact.

The Nursing Times Workforce Awards, held at London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel, celebrate the achievements of individuals and organisations across healthcare, with a focus on areas such as recruitment, retention, staff wellbeing, and inclusion. Ahmad’s dedication to his patients and his efforts to amplify the voices of his peers earned him praise from the judging panel.
“His story of perseverance resonated deeply with the panel, showcasing his strength, adaptability, and unwavering dedication to helping others,” the judges remarked. They commended his commitment to both his clinical work and supporting colleagues across the profession.
Speaking about his award, Ahmad said: “Winning the Overseas Nurse of the Year award is an incredible honour. It’s a recognition of not just my journey, but also the opportunities and support I’ve received to grow as a nurse. I’m truly grateful for the mentorship and education provided by City St George’s, which have allowed me to contribute meaningfully to my patients and my profession.”
